About Institute for the Contemporary Study of Islam
Institute for the Contemporary Study of Islam is the continuation of the Institute of Islamic Studies, founded in 1997 to promote academic research on Islam and Muslims in cooperation with other academic centres. The Institute arranged 22 academic conferences in the duration between 1998 and 2004. These included:
Muslim Identity in the 21st century (in collaboration with SOAS, 1998), The Concept of Comprehension: Viewpoints of Mula Sadra vs. Western Philosophers (in collaboration with Birkbeck, the University of London, 2001), Islamophobia (London, 2002), Constitutionalism in Islam (London, 2004), Imam Mahdi, Justice and Globalization (London, 2004). The Institute published the journal of Transcendent Philosophy, for several years. This journal continues to be published by the London Academy of Iranian Studies (http://iranianstudies.org).
